One of the most influential speakers at this year’s Growth Summit was Vijay Govindarajan, author of Reverse Innovation. He made the case that the biggest threats to US businesses aren’t other US businesses, but instead are Indian or Chinese companies, ready to disrupt in every field. The average prothetic leg in the US right now is about $20,000. There is now a $30 (yes, $30!) artificial leg made from recycled plastic yogurt containers, and not only is it strong, its much lighter than the titanium we tend to use here. Where might you be able to innovate overseas to make a huge difference in people’s lives there, and then bring it back to the US?
